Esther

I had the privilege of taking Esther's pictures, I'm pretty inexperienced and really just get some lucky shots, I need to learn how to use my camera better but since I had such a beautiful subject, I managed to get some good ones. Thanks Esther, I had a wonderful time!

The Kahler Visit

We had a wonderful time with the Kahlers yesterday and today, there was lots of horse riding, chicken catching, and eating (lots of mouths and lots of food!).

The next John Wayne

Vanessa has a flip video so we were able to capture some of the action, sorry I messed up the title, I didn't have time to fix it, and I had trouble uploading it so I'm sorry that the quality is kinda poor. Toward the end listen closely to what happens when Vonny tells Leyton to put the egg back into the nest!

Did you hear the egg being "put into the nest"!? Tuesday night we made a campfire in the pasture and ate with the cows, it's always fun when they come right up to the blanket ( and even step onto it) just to check out what you're up to and say "hi" :)

Tri-County Fair

The fair is behind us for one more year once again, for me though, the 4-H animal show is going to have to become a good memory because this was the last year I could squeak under the age limit (since I was still 18 on September 1st I was considered 18 in 4-H years and got to participate in one last fair!)
The Girls

We went back to Wishek last night for the premium sale and 4-H animal parade.

Judging static exhibits on Friday.

Mindy has more pictures and results posted, check it out here.

Mom

We're getting ready to go to Beaver Lake State Park, we we have church out by the lake once a year and we'll be camping tonight with the Sunds and O'hares. We're all busy getting ready to go, cleaning packing and cooking. Mom's making knephla and just a few minutes ago I walked through the kitchen and had to stop and Laugh at my Mother! She must have felt too short to see into the great big kettle so the faithful old turtle was there to help! This made my day, I hope it makes you smile too!

Rhubarb cake

By request... Prairie Bible Camp Rhubarb Cake Recipe

Prepare one white or yellow boxed cake mix according to directions on box. Add:
  • 4 cups of chopped rhubarb
  • 2 cups cream
  • 1 cup sugar
Pour the rhubarb, cream, and sugar on top of the cake. The rhubarb will settle to the bottom like a custard, just flip it upside down when you serve and enjoy!

P.S. do not mix the rhubarb, cream and sugar separately before adding it to the cake ( I tried that and the rhubarb didn't settle). Now go make some yummy rhubarb cake and let me know how it turns out!!

I was a little unclear with these directions, I should have worded it a little different.

Layer the chopped rhubarb, then cream, then sugar on top of the cake. Do not mix the rhubarb, cream, and sugar together before pouring onto the cake. Make better sense? Sorry I was confusing the first time! Alright, let me know how it goes! :)

Hail storm

This afternoon I took this panorama of the sky because the clouds were amazing, I figured it was going to be another one of the thunderstorms we've had allot of lately but I didn't realize what it would bring.

Looking on the radar later it seemed that 3 storm systems "met up" right over our farm. The storm produced hail ranging from pea to quarter size. The good thing however is that it was right over our farm and the fields away from the yard are just fine, some didn't even get any rain.
As you can see some of our corn got it pretty bad, it's hard to see when it was nicely knee high and beautiful on the 4th of July. However, I believe God is very capable of making it continue to grow if He sees fit.
About 4 1/2 hours later there was still some hail in the ditch.
Mom's garden didn't escape the hail, just this morning I thought I should take some pictures of her garden because it's so nice and starting to produce more and more, once again I think allot of it will pull through, but I suppose it will be set back a little

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he
has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to
those who love him.

God is so good! Sometimes it takes losing something to realize what you have, we are so blessed and God is still in control. We have many many untouched acres to be thankful for and the hope that even these will pull through.

Statue of Liberty

"In New York Harbor, stands a lady, with a torch raised to the sky,
and all who see her, know she stands for liberty for you and me.
I'm so proud to be called an American, to be named with the brave and the free.
I will honor the flag and I'll trust in God, and the statue of liberty!

On lonley Golgotha, stood a rugged cross, with my Lord raised to the sky,
and all who kneel there live forever, as all the saved can testify.
I'm so proud to be called a Christain, to be named with the ransomed and whole.
As the statue liberates the citizens, so the cross liberates the soul!

Oh the cross is my statue of liberty, it was there that my soul was set free.
Unashamed I'll proclaim that a rugged cross is my statue of liberty!"
